Jan's Feral Colony
This is a managed feral colony in the Silicon Valley area of California.
The cats in this colony have been or are scheduled to go through a TTVAR
(trap, test, vaccinate, alter, release) program. We use the Humane Society
of Santa Clara Valley's spay/neuter clinic for this program.
The colony manager is a member of
Silicon Valley Friends of Ferals,
an organization working to alleviate the suffering and overpopulation
of feral and stray cats by implementing TTVAR programs in the Silicon
Valley Area, and rescuing tame and socializable cats into adoptive homes.
Some of the tamer cats in this colony are ready to be placed in foster
homes or permanent homes. All of these cats would need to be in an
indoor-only home since they are former feral cats and would be likely
to stray from their new homes if let outside. If you can provide a loving
home for any one of these cats please contact
jan@panix.com.
Relatively Tame Cats
These cats are wild, but have been worked with extensively to
acclimate them to the presence of people. This has all been
outdoors, so they still need either a transitional handler or an
understanding home. Some were probably owned at some time and
others have always lived on the streets.
Wild Side of the Street
These cats are too wild to expect them to be placed at this time.
They are accustomed to being near a human who is filling food and
water dishes, but are generally not within reach.
The Silent Colony
These kitties are no longer in the colony. Some are known to be
dead and others have just stopped showing up for a long time.
